Palladium is seeking a Chief of Party for the anticipated USAID-funded Feed the Future West Africa Trade and Investment Activity based in Nigeria. The project will improve private sector competitiveness with a focus on increasing agricultural productivity and profitability of Nigerian smallholder farmers, and will simultaneously promote West Africa’s regional and international trade. Priority countries for this activity include Nigeria, Senegal, and Cote d’Ivoire.

Palladium has worked in West Africa for over 30 years, collaborating with national and sub-national governments, regional economic communities, private sector business, smallholder farmers, financial institutions, and industry alliances. Within Nigeria, Palladium has implemented both donor-funded and private sector consulting projects focused on agribusiness, trade and export development, and access to finance and currently boasts a US$ 450 million project portfolio with over 500 staff.

  • Provides overall project management, strategic vision, and technical leadership for the program. 
  • Serves as the public face of the project, representing the project to USAID, host-country counterparts, and project partners liaising with home office, the Deputy Chief of Party and Technical leads.
  • Ensures submission of high-quality and timely project deliverables and achievement of results.
  • Applies an adaptive management approach, and works with staff, home office and USAID to adjust approach, staffing and resources as needed based on continuous monitoring.
  • Directly supervises senior team members, who oversee and manage major work streams/departments including: value chain development, enterprise and markets development, agriculture policy reform and general USAID contract management.  
  • Master’s Degree or higher in business, economics, marketing, agricultural science, trade, or other relevant field.
  • 10 or more years of experience managing complex agriculture and/or economic growth international development programs; prior USAID Chief of Party experience strongly preferred.
  • Prior work experience in the greater West Africa region is required; experience in Nigeria preferred.
  • Technical expertise in two or more of the following areas: agriculture, agricultural trade, enterprise development and agribusiness, public private partnerships, market linkages, rural finance for agriculture, women’s empowerment.
  • Fluency in English is required; written and spoken competency in French preferred.
  • Strong leadership, diplomacy, program and organizational management, and oral and written communication skills.
  • A demonstrated ability to lead multi-faceted teams and solve problems when needed.
